Until very recently electricity companies refused to pay compensation to property owners in respect of underground electricity cables (those being network cables, not the property owners’) unless a loss could be demonstrated i.e. the cables were found to be in the way of implementing a planning consent or Permitted Development
Rights.

This has changed and we are aware that the operators now have significant budgets to compensate property owners and regularise the existence of said cables. This means that property owners can not only receive a tax free compensatory payment, but they also know who to contact if there is a problem with the cables, they will know where the cables are exactly and the whole matter becomes a lot more
transparent.

We are happy to take on all such negotiations on clients’ behalf on our standard ‘No settlement, No fee’ commission basis and look forward to receiving any enquiries.
